Puppet Slam (NSFK)

When: Saturday, April 22
Performances at 7:00pm and 9:00pm
Where: 1216 Taylor Street

Featuring Facto Teatro, Art Pot, and La Tropa!

The Puppet Slam Network defines a Puppet Slam as, “the nexus of vaudeville, burlesque, and performance art through the intersection of experimental theater, art, music, and dance as a viable alternative to the culturally homogenous digital mass media.”

The experimental nature of puppet slams not only allows experienced puppeteers to try new things, it also opens up the art of puppetry to artists with no prior experience in the medium.  Lyon Hill and Kimi Maeda–the Puppet Slam’s organizers–invite musicians, actors, and visual artists to collaborate and for Visiones, they are particularly thrilled to be able to bring Facto Teatro from Mexico City, Art Pot, from Hanahan, SC, and Columbia’s own La Tropa to the slam–culminating in a cross-cultural, international collaboration designed to mesmerize and inspire.

There will be musical accompaniment by Skeleton, the stage name of local musician and Nickelodeon staff member, Pedro LopezDeVictoria.

Note: Not safe for kids.
