Caitlyn Greene’s ‘August’ to Premiere Online at Short of the Week

Indie Grits 2017 alum Caitlyn Greene and her narrative short, August will premiere online this week on Short of the Week, Wednesday June 7! Short of the Week has “been serving up epic, bite-sized films to millions around the world since 2007… and promote the greatest and most innovative stories from around the world.” Every week new content is released and they curate about an hour of their best short selections.

Deep in Louisiana’s swampland, August is a short narrative film about a woman living a quarantined life with her lover in what she believes is a post-apocalyptic world. He spends his days gas-masked, foraging for food. She spends hers frying non-perishable patties and painting her toenails. After a small but pivotal moment wakes her from her trance, she becomes determined to leave after 16 years inside. Fearing something she’s no longer sure she believes in, she decides to face it anyway.

August was an official selection of the 2017 Slamdance Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, the Annapolis Film Festival, and was awarded by the Kansas City Film Fest for Best Narrative Short.

Caitlyn Greene is a filmmaker based in New York City. August represents her narrative directorial debut. Other editorial credits include Kim A. Snyder’s Newtown (Sundance 2016), Antonio Campos’ Christine (Sundance 2016), and Jimmy Goldblum and Adam Weber’s Tomorrow We Disappear (Tribeca 2014).
