A few words from Kelly Creedon on her film, In This World, and her first time at Indie Grits Film Festival.
“I’m delighted for the opportunity to be a part of the Indie Grits community for the first time this year. Not only is this my first Indie Grits, but I’m also a first-time filmmaker and this will be my first festival, so I’m really thrilled for the chance to join you all. Though I’m originally from the cold Northeast, I came to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 2013 for a graduate program in documentary film and photography and quickly fell in love with the Carolinas. Most recently, I’m based in Charleston, SC.
When I first met Vosiey, the main character in my short film In This World, he immediately started recruiting me to be on his team. At 14, he was ready to launch his career as an actor, singer and comedian and take off for LA, if he could just find a filmmaker to make him a demo reel. I was quickly captivated by the confidence, drive and imagination busting out of his tiny body, and was swept away by the idea of stepping into his world. We partnered up and together began chronicling his relentless quest for fame and fortune.
Thanks again for the opportunity to share my work and to celebrate with you all the 10th anniversary of Indie Grits. I can’t wait to see all the wonderful films in this year’s program. See you in April.”
